GET THAT BLOOD PUMPIN’
Ways to Focus on Heart Health in the Shower
A great time to get that blood pumping and address heart health is during shower time. And getting the circulation moving is a great way to wake up the skin and body. Circulation is key to a healthy heart. When we sit or stay still, blood slows and it’s harder and harder for the body’s organs to move toxins out, recharge and regenerate. Besides daily exercise, we need to focus on circulation of the blood.
We all know that exercise like daily walks are essential for circulation and heart health but constant movement throughout the day is key to getting circulation pumping.
Think of Shower Time as Circulation Time!
In the shower we can focus on 3 different ways to increase circulation of the heart and blood. Easier during a shower, we can alternate the water temp between hot and cold. This causes the blood vessels to relax and contract which in turn causes the blood to move within the body quicker. The Finnish have been jumping into an icy lakes after sauna for centuries and for good reason. Alternating hot and cold is perfect for all-over body circulation.
Next is Dry Brushing. Before getting in the shower or bath, use a body brush to brush the skin in a circular motion from outer extremities toward the heart. This also causes movement of the blood. A great way to wake up and warm up the body.
After getting wet, try a healthy Body Scrub to further increase circulation and also remove dead skin cells. You’ll find that shower/bath time can be really invigorating and healthy. A great way to increase blood flow every morning and in addition to your regular workout routine.
Next up on the blog we will discuss more ways to focus on Heart Health. And yes one of those is all about FOOD!
