LOSE MENTAL WEIGHT BY DECLUTTERING
Yes we have officially lost our minds.
We are going to talk about how to lose mental weight by decluttering one area that we use constantly. Clutter around us physically also causes us to lose focus and it’s harder to get through the mental clutter. Today’s Wellness Action is to take a room or small work area and declutter it. It doesn’t have to be a very large room or area but enough of a space that you notice it. And by cleaning one area that you use quite often, it creates a feeling of stress relief mentally. I often find that if I’m feeling overwhelmed, I’ll organize and clean our production room. Immediately I’ll feel like I can “see” the business better. Clutter has a way of making our brains “see” the clutter around us instead of focusing on solving problems/issues in life.
No time for this nonsense?
We all have a desk or laptop area where we do most of our work. Step back and look at it. Does your area make you breathe a sigh of relief or invoke a little irritation? Take 5-10 minutes to file anything loose. Throw away garbage or junk mail. Decide what items you actually need to work and eliminate anything that is clutter. Now look at your area. Feeling better? Good.
This weekend, take a few more minutes to do a larger area or a whole room. Sunday’s Wellness Action will continue on what we’re doing today. Usually when we organize the area of our room/desk/life that we are most active within, it’ll start a domino action with other areas of our life.
Now what?
For many of us, the end of the year is also a time we look at yearly sales reports, count inventory and generally look at what we need to do and accomplish for the next year. It’s also a time that we’re tired, and worn out. Take little steps and remember to practice self care. Take a bath. See our Day 1 Action with Mineral Bath Soak! Get a massage. Step back from your normal workplace and take a walk or meet a friend for a mug of love or what others call a mug of coffee. I call it mugs of hugs and love. Point being is that it doesn’t need to be big steps but instead take little steps, reward with happy self care and move forward.
Decluttering allows for focus on other areas of your life.
Doing some cleaning/organizing/decluttering can allow your brain to refocus on your overall life plan. Maybe you’ve needed to focus on finances, or losing physical weight or re-branding your business. Besides feeling relief visually, we feel a mental relief. Clutter can make it impossible to focus on other things. Now get on it and lose mental weight by decluttering!
